panerai watches

Giovanni Panerai founded Officine Panerai in 1860 in Florence, Italy. In addition to a boutique and workshop, Officine Panerai was also the city’s first watchmaking school, giving perspective on Giovanni Panerai’s deep devotion to the world of horology. During World War II, Panerai became the official manufacturer of watches for the Royal Italian Navy, crafting watches which featured their patented Radiomir, a radium potion which gave luminosity to parts such as the dial. The Panerai Radiomir and Lumior models which were designed for the military are some of the most collectible watches in the world today. The company’s history with the military has continued to influence Panerai’s designs and identity. In fact, it wasn’t until 1992 that Panerai began to sell watches to anyone other than military personnel. Panerai watches are crafted in Switzerland and feature dark, understated designs that are globally recognized and highly sought after. The company has been awarded some of the most prestigious awards in the watch industry for crafting watches which are aesthetically unique, functionally impeccable, and built for lifelong durability.
